Boehmite Gel

For your antacid suspensions, boehmite gel protects the stomach wall by absorbing stomach acid and creating a high viscosity gel.

Boehmite gel is a crystalline form of aluminum hydroxide. It is a pumpable suspension with an Al2O3 content of no less than 13%. Unlike the amorphous form of aluminum hydroxide gel, boehmite does not dissolve in hydrochloric acid (HCl).

Boehmite protects the stomach wall by adsorbing stomach acid and creating a high viscosity gel. It is chosen primarily because of its lower aluminum solubility. The product, by design, has lower acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) compared to standard aluminum hydroxide gel.
