SPI Pharma Completes Acquisition of Elementis Pharma GmbH to help capture growth in the digestive health market
Wilmington, Delaware and Ludwigshafen, Germany – 3 June 2026
SPI Pharma, a business of Associated British Foods plc (ABF) and part of the ABF Ingredients division, today announces the completion of the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Elementis Pharma GmbH, a business formerly part of Elementis plc.
The transaction agreement was signed in March 2026 and has now completed following receipt of all required regulatory approvals. Elementis Pharma now formally becomes part of SPI Pharma.
Elementis Pharma operates a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and is a provider of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), primarily focused on antacid actives and other compounds used in the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions. The business and its experienced team further strengthen SPI Pharma’s existing capabilities in pharmaceutical ingredients, including digestive aids.
The acquisition significantly strengthens SPI Pharma’s strategic position in the digestive health market, which is expanding rapidly as more consumers globally become aware of the link between the gut microbiome, overall wellness, and immune support.
