What would I be doing?

The EHS Manager oversees all aspects of the site's safety, health and environmental programs. The manager serves as an expert resource and a leader in optimizing the site's safety program and environmental compliance.

· Conduct program assessments to identify department and/or program deficiencies.

· Evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or personal protective equipment.

· Coordinate and conduct work area assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions, such as noise exposure, chemical exposure, indoor air quality, light levels, confined space, and ventilation.

· Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate records and data for effective safety and environmental programs, and for presentation to corporate, state, and federal agencies.

· Coordinate all CLP, SDS, and MSDS’s for new/existing products.

· Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies to maintain site compliance with SHE regulations, and maintain all required safety and environmental permitting for the site.

· Track employee suggestions for improving safety and report safety participation to site leadership

· Work proactively through routine audits and employee committees to insure that the site is in compliance with all SHE regulations.

· Maintain the site Work Permit process and required documentation

· Oversee work being performed under Work Permits to assure all work is being performed as required and agreed to

· Work with internal and external project personnel to identify potential hazards, identify needed controls, develop safe work plans, implement safety protocols, and enforce adherence to the protocols developed.

· Contribute to the development and practice of site crisis management process

· Develop and lead HSE improvement projects, including capital funding requests, purchasing of needed materials and supplies, and execution of the project.

· Assist in development of Hazardous Energy Control Procedures (HECP’s) and ensure that reviews are done as legally required.

· Foster a culture that reinforces safety-first mindset, looking out for one another, and being able to sense and avoid potential hazards in the work we do including training

· Develop and foster effective working relationships with state and local regulatory officials and emergency management groups, including local fire, EMT, and police.

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor of Science degree in a technical, engineering, or related science field, preferably in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, or similar EHS degree; as demonstrated by the ability to correctly evaluate chemical and physical processes for potential SHE risks and needed controls vs. good-practice standards

· 5-10 years minimum experience with industrial safety and environmental issues; preferably in with larger scale chemical manufacturing or heavy industrial operations

· Environmental and/or safety certification(s) preferred (e.g. NERP, CEP, CIH, REM, CSM, NEBOSH, OSHA).

· Must be current on latest government safety and environmental regulations and have experience in applying them to a manufacturing environment.

· Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment

· Ability to learn/adapt quickly to new situations
